ODEIA’s Role
The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (ODEIA) examines policy options, governmentwide data trends, and employee survey findings that affect OPM’s management of HR policy, specifically including diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) throughout the Federal government.
To ensure Federal departments and agencies recruit and retain talented individuals from all communities, especially those from underserved communities, ODEIA develops comprehensive strategies, like those implemented by top performing private, public, and academic organizations, to drive and integrate DEIA governmentwide with the goal of building a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible workforce. One that respects individual and organizational cultures and complies with merit principles and applicable Federal laws.
ODEIA supports departments and agencies by demonstrating how DEIA is a force multiplier that will fortify their ability to be proactive and responsive to shifting workforce demographics, create and provide innovative services and products for all populations including underserved communities, and develop new and sustainable solutions to society’s leading challenges.
