The U.S. Office of Personnel Management developed the resources presented on this page in order to assist managers and supervisors in creating a successful plan for employee engagement. This toolkit provides step-by-step guidance to easily assist work unit managers and supervisors in understanding OPM’s Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) results, prioritizing areas in need of improvement, and determining effective steps that will lead toward improved engagement among workforce members.
OPM acknowledges the critical role that supervisors play in driving engagement and fostering a supportive workplace. Leading engagement improvement efforts can be challenging and, at times, overwhelming. Assessing improvements over time and adjusting in response to assessments has proven to be particularly tough for agencies. The intent of this toolkit is to empower supervisors to develop comprehensive strategies to improve the work related experiences of employees through easily applicable steps.
These resources can also serve as an aid to leaders in educating staff members on how they can play an instrumental role in the process. The tips and tools presented will serve useful for managers that are seasoned in the activities addressed and for those who are newly responsible for leading the process for their work group. OPM shares these resources in support of agencies being creative in maximizing employee engagement and realizing the critical role that engagement plays in the health of an organization.
