Biden-Harris Administration to Students: “Your Dream Job Exists in the Federal Government”

EAST LANSING – Senior Biden-Harris Administration official, Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Acting Director Rob Shriver today kicked off a college federal recruitment tour at Michigan State University (MSU). Shriver visited MSU’s James Madison College, where he met with students from a variety of disciplines to discuss opportunities in the federal government for college students and recent graduates.

During a fireside chat with nearly 100 students, AD Shriver highlighted over 600 federal job openings in Michigan and emphasized work the Biden-Harris Administration has done to improve benefits and raise pay for federal workers, and expand pathways to enter federal careers. Shriver invited students to explore federal career and spoke about his own experience working for the federal government.

Over the past four years, we’ve made federal careers more accessible for early career talent, more competitive with pay and benefits, and more rewarding for anyone who wants to make an impact,” said OPN Acting Director Rob Shriver. “My message to students is: we need you. We need your passion, your talents, and your skills. And the good news is, whatever your dream job, there’s a version of it in the federal government.”

“This visit provided Michigan State University students with an invaluable opportunity to explore the diverse career paths that exist within the federal government. As we prepare the next generation of leaders, events like these are crucial in bridging the gap between academic excellence and future careers in public service,” said James Madison College Dean and MSU Foundation Professor Cameron Thies.

After kicking off the tour in East Lansing, Acting Director Shriver will make numerous stops at Michigan universities throughout the week. This is the second state on the tour with more to come.
