RELEASE: U.S. Office of Personnel Management Announces Government-wide Training for Federal Employees to Succeed in Hybrid Work Environments

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) announced today free government-wide trainings for all Federal employees to help them succeed in a hybrid work environment. The trainings, titled “Thriving in a Hybrid Environment,” will support Federal employees and equip them to develop and implement hybrid work environment best practices within their agencies. OPM will offer twelve in-person and six virtual training sessions. 

“OPM is fully invested in supporting and strengthening the Federal workforce and these trainings are the next step to help agencies deliver for the American people,” said OPM Director Kiran Ahuja. “These government-wide trainings will equip the Federal workforce with tools and skills they can immediately use to improve performance and efficiency when serving in hybrid work environments.” 

Please note: Trainings will be offered to Federal employees only. 

Developed and facilitated by OPM, trainings will include content created from literature and field-based research around: 

  • Understanding the Hybrid Environment 
  • Effective Performance Management in a Hybrid Environment 
  • Hybrid Norms, Processes, and Protocol for Individuals and Teams 
  • Tracked Results to Support Performance Accomplishments 
  • OPM’s Hybrid Leadership Model: Leadership Traits in a Hybrid Environment 

Multiple in-person and virtual sessions will be offered this spring. Registration is required. In-person sessions will be provided at the following dates and locations:  

  • April 19 – Washington, DC 
  • April 24 – Denver, CO 
  • May 10 – Atlanta, GA 
  • May 24 – San Francisco, CA 
  • June 14 – Kansas City, MO 
  • June 21 – Chicago, IL 

 Virtual sessions will be provided at the following dates and times.  

  • May 3 – 10:00am to 1:00pm EST 
  • May 24 – 1:00pm to 4:00pm EST 
  • May 31 – 10:00am to 1:00 pm EST
  • June 7 – 1:00pm to 4:00 pm EST 
  • June 14 – 10:00am to 1:00pm EST 
  • June 28 – 1:00pm to 4:00pm EST  

Training sessions are for federal government employees only. If you are a Federal employee who would like to participate, please register here. In addition, a recording will be uploaded to OPM’s YouTube for interested parties who cannot attend the sessions above.  

The “Thriving in a Hybrid Environment” government-wide training is an initiative of the President’s Management Agenda Workforce Priority focused on Strengthening and Empowering the Federal Workforce. Training managers and supervisors to support the Federal workforce in hybrid work is part of our strategy of enabling the Federal workforce to thrive in the workplace of the future – and part of a broader objective of creating a roadmap to the future workforce.
