RELEASE: VA Secretary Denis McDonough and OPM Director Kiran Ahuja to Co-Chair 2022 Combined Federal Campaign
Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) announced that the Honorable Denis McDonough, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Kiran Ahuja will be serving as the National Honorary Co-Chairs of the 2022 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
The CFC is a 61-year annual giving tradition that allows the Federal workforce to donate directly to thousands of eligible charities and causes locally, nationwide, and throughout the world. Through the contributions of Federal employees, military employees, and retirees, the 2021 CFC raised over $80 million. An additional Special Solicitation took place earlier this year to benefit those affected by the war in Ukraine.
“Through the tremendous generosity of the Federal family each year, the Combined Federal Campaign demonstrates that a commitment to service can take many forms,” said OPM Director Kiran Ahuja. “The impact and spirit of the Combined Federal Campaign extends far beyond the workplace and is kept alive by dedicated public servants in communities across the nation and around the world. I look forward to another successful campaign season.”
The campaign run from September 1st, 2022 through January 14, 2023. Each week features raising awareness for different causes including disaster relief, ending hunger, eradicating poverty, mental health, and other issues important to the workers and retirees. Federal workers can pledge to these or any of the other thousands of participating charities by visiting the online pledge portal.
“America’s great public servants always step up when the country needs them most, whether it’s through their day-to-day work or their generous giving. I know that same spirit of compassion and selflessness will shine through during this year’s campaign,” said VA Secretary Denis McDonough.
Since its inception, Federal employees have pledged more than $8.6 billion to CFC-listed charities.
