Statement: OPM names new Chief Information Officer

Acting Director of the Office of Personnel Management Kathy McGettigan announced today that David Garcia will serve as OPM’s new Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Mr. Garcia previously served as the Chief of Information Technology for the State of Maryland and Secretary of the Department of Information Technology (DoIT) from 2015 to 2017. The department is the principal agency for IT operations for the State of Maryland. It develops, maintains, revises and enforces information technology policies, procedures and standards throughout State government. It also provides the Governor’s Executive Branch, multiple state agencies and coordinating offices with guidance and support from concept to completion of all IT projects.

Mr. Garcia’s appointment becomes effective today, October 2, 2017.
