OPM Awards Four New Contracts to Support Background Investigations
Two new companies join CACI Premier Technology and Keypoint Government Solutions to support OPM in conducting background investigations for the Federal Government
WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) today announced the awarding of four new contracts to support OPM’s Federal Investigative Services - and the new National Background Investigations Bureau (NBIB), scheduled to stand up in the first week of October, 2016 - in conducting Federal background investigations. The new contracts will be awarded to CACI Premier Technology, Inc.; CSRA LLC; Key Point Government Solutions, Inc; and Securitas Critical Infrastructure Services, LLC. OPM received four bids, all of which were accepted.
OPM conducts roughly 95% of Federal background investigations for Federal agencies to ascertain whether an applicant is suitable for Federal employment and/or should be awarded a security clearance. The awarded indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts each include a guaranteed minimum of $1 million. Amounts above $1 million are based on the amount of workload each contractor is assigned and completed during the contracts performance period. Each of the contracts has a performance period of five years. This award also increases the industry base for performing investigative fieldwork and will allow OPM to work with the contractors over time to increase capacity and enhance the service delivered to our agency customers.
“I look forward to continuing our relationship with CACI and Keypoint, and to partnering with CSRA and Securitas Critical Infrastructure Services,” said Beth Cobert, Acting Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. “These companies will work in coordination with OPM Federal investigators in providing this critical function of conducting hundreds of thousands of background investigations for Federal agencies annually.”
In January, the Administration announced the creation of the new National Background Investigations Bureau to absorb OPM’s current Federal Investigative Services (FIS). CACI Premier Technology and Keypoint Government Solutions - current OPM contractors supporting FIS - will continue working seamlessly as OPM transitions FIS into NBIB, and CSRA LLC and Securitas Critical Infrastructure Services, LLC could begin work as soon as December 1, 2016.
More information on the new National Background Investigations Bureau will be announced by OPM in the coming weeks.
