Post-Retirement
Questions and answers
When we receive your retirement application, we will notify you and will provide you a civil service claim number (a seven-digit number preceded by "CSA"). You must use your civil service claim number whenever you contact OPM about your annuity and benefits.
To check the status of your form or application, you may contact the Retirement Information Office at 1-888-767-6738 or retire@opm.gov. The phone lines are open from 7:40 am to 5:00 pm (ET) Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
Non-disability annuitants are able to view the status of processing their annuity application while receiving interim payments via Services Online. To access Services Online, you must have the CSA number issued to you by OPM. Services Online will display one of four statuses:
- Retirement Application Received and the date of the action
- Interim Pay Issued and the date of the action
- Assigned to Specialist and the date of the action
- Case Finalized and the date of the action
Once your annuity claim is fully processed, the status viewer is available for 21 days and then it is removed from the main menu.
