Laurie Bodenheimer
Associate Director, Healthcare and Insurance
Laurie Bodenheimer is the Associate Director for Healthcare and Insurance (HI) at the Office of Personnel Management.
In this role, she is responsible for oversight and contract administration for all benefits offered to Federal employees and annuitants, other than retirement. These benefit programs cover millions of employees, annuitants, their eligible family members, and in some cases, other eligible groups and include the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program; the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP); the Federal Employees’ Life Insurance (FEGLI) Program; the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP) and the FSAFEDS Program.
Prior to serving as the Associate Director of HI, Laurie served as both Acting Director and Deputy Director of HI. Her entire federal career has been with OPM’s Healthcare and Insurance, helping to implement all the voluntary benefit programs noted above as well as OPM’s responsibilities under the Affordable Care Act. Prior to federal service, Laurie worked for many years for a national health insurance organization in a variety of roles, as well as a nurse specializing in caring for patients with severe and rare neurological conditions at a major NYC teaching hospital.
Laurie earned a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University, and is a graduate of Fairfield University School of Nursing.
