Federal Governmentwide Academic Alliances
As a part of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management's (OPM's) continuing efforts to provide higher educational opportunities to the Federal workforce by providing current Federal employees with the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education, OPM is partnering with colleges and universities.
With the endorsement of the CHCO Council, the main purpose of this program is to:
•Build future Federal workforce
•Address current Governmentwide and agency-specific skills gaps
•Support career development for Federal employee
•Provide affordable opportunities for Federal employees to obtain college degrees, certificates and/or college credits
•Provide subject matter expertise by developing and/or teaching courses that infuse the public sector perspective into the schools’ curriculums.
•Provide current college students with a greater understanding of and access to the Federal Government.
The partnerships are formalized with Governmentwide Memorandum of Agreements which include but are not limited to:
•Discounted tuition rates on most college degree and certificate program.
•Enhanced collaboration by allowing Federal subject matter experts to work with college curriculum developers to infuse a public sector perspective into their curriculum/programs.
•Opportunities to focus on targeted recruitment and developing and/or establishing a talent pipeline.
•These agreements bear no financial obligation from the Government.
