OPM publishes NEW Guide for Establishing a Federal Nursing Mother’s Program

January 28, 2013

Released in January of 2013, the Guide for Establishing a Federal Nursing Mother’s Program details the legislative requirements according to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that Federal agencies must meet in support of nursing mothers.  This comprehensive guide also demonstrates the benefits of breastfeeding to agencies, mothers, and their nursing infants.  In the guide, agencies can find steps necessary to develop a program from the ground up and specific information on how an agency can improve and sustain an existing program.  Furthermore, several Federal agencies with outstanding nursing mother’s programs are highlighted for benchmarking purposes.
