TO: LOCAL FEDERAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND PRINCIPAL COMBINED FUND ORGANIZATION COORDINATORS
FROM: MARK W. LAMBERT
DIRECTOR
OFFICE CFC OPERATIONS
SUBJECT: 2009 CFC REGIONAL WORKSHOPS

Dear Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC) Chair and Principal Combined Fund Organization (PCFO) Representative:

It is my pleasure to invite you to attend the 2009 National Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Workshops. These workshops bring together members of LFCCs, PCFOs, and CFC-participating agencies to learn about trends and changes in the CFC and best practices in managing a successful campaign. This year's event will feature important information on the coding project, e-giving, and increasing participation.

The National CFC Workshops are held in two locations to allow LFCCs and PCFOs to determine which training is most cost-effective for the local campaign. The 2009 sites are San Diego, CA, March 1-4, and New Orleans, LA, April 14-17. Take a moment to select which location best fits your budget and schedule and send in your registration form (attached). Please note the registration deadlines.

The opening day will feature a course for CFC new-comers, titled "CFC 101" which is designed for those who have less than two years experience with the campaign. We will also conduct the "Strengthening the CFC Network" session on the first day, which will give attendees an opportunity to meet their peers from their state and/or region. For further information, please refer to the Draft Agenda, attached.

The National CFC Workshops are arranged by the National CFC Committee, chaired by Kal Stein of Earth Share. All logistics and program activities are coordinated by Jan Stinson, Director of the Chicago Federal Executive Board and the members of the Local Support Subcommittee. We appreciate their work in creating the impressive agenda.

In order to facilitate the participation of both LFCCs and PCFOs, we encourage PCFOs to include estimated travel expenses in their 2009-10 budgets to support participation by the LFCC chair or a designated representative, along with PCFO staff. While many LFCC members may secure Federal agency funding to attend the CFC Workshops, in the event this is not feasible, LFCCs are permitted to include these expenses in the local campaign budget. Documented/supported workshop costs, including travel, are permissible campaign expenses, pending LFCC approval. Costs related to the participation of a spouse or guest are not permitted campaign expenses.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Mark W. Lambert
Director, Office of CFC Operations
